Learn how to use the Gold Matte Scoop to measure loose leaf tea perfectly every time. This guide covers scoop size, technique, and common mistakes.
Quick answer
Use the Gold Matte Scoop to measure one level scoop of loose leaf tea per cup. This stainless steel scoop with a matte gold finish is designed to give you the perfect amount every time.
Why the scoop size matters
The Gold Matte Scoop is sized to measure the ideal amount of tea for a single cup. Using too much or too little tea can lead to bitter or weak flavor. This scoop takes the guesswork out of portioning.
How to use the Gold Matte Scoop
- 1. Scoop the tea: Insert the scoop into your loose leaf tea container and fill it completely. Gently level off the top with a knife or your finger so it's not heaped. A heaped scoop can over-brew and make tea bitter.
- 2. Add to your infuser or teapot: Pour the leveled scoop of tea into your teapot, infuser basket, or tea filter. One scoop is designed for one standard 8 oz (240 ml) cup. For larger cups or pots, add one scoop per serving—do not eyeball.
- 3. Brew as usual: Pour hot water over the tea and steep according to the tea type (e.g., 3–5 minutes for black tea, 2–3 minutes for green tea). Remove the infuser or strain before drinking. Check the tea's recommended water temperature to avoid scalding delicate leaves.
- 4. Clean after use: Rinse the scoop with warm water and mild soap, then dry immediately. Hand wash only—do not put it in the dishwasher or microwave. Residue from different teas can alter flavor if the scoop isn't cleaned between uses.
